Some People have questioned the 11/22A lower power controller with a 1500w wheel.
I setup this motor controller combo with extensive real time measurements and testing. The video below has real time power use embedded in the video
The controller does 22A to 24A peak . With fully charged 52v battery (58v) The controller even though rated at 22A does 25A bursts which means bursts of 1450W but still under the motor max of 1500w. The system is designed such that even with bursts motor doesn’t go over the motors 1500w limit. Some Customers have asked to place a higher power 30A controller. The 30a controller will place 1700w peak into the motor burning either cable or motor core or both. Even with the 11/22A controller the motor climbs well see the this video of hill climbing with a child trailer.

I’ve only put @250 miles on the recumbent bike this kit is on, but it has performed flawlessly (just make sure those watertight connectors are pushed in all the way). I’ve had it up to 30 MPH on a flat limited straightaway w/a 52v battery. I really like the universal thumb throttle that can go on either side easily. Also, this is the 3rd geared hub motor I have had, and the Only One that gives constant speed/mileage whether you’re using the throttle or not!

I’ve put about 500 miles on my kit and im very pleased with its performance along with the 52v batt.. I get 30mph+ flatland. I’m not sure of the mileage cuz I have another motor and batt on the front wheel as well.

I live on top of a very steep mountain in Vermont. The dirt road to my house is more than 2 miles without any level sections. Before adding the 52 Volt motor to my bike I was unable to pedal the whole distance. Now I can pedal up the hill in 6 minutes! I love my Cali bike kit. It is fast and fun. Instalation was easy and everything has exceeded my expectations.

I wanted to buy a motor from another manufacturer because it had good reviews. I could not get that motor because of the Pandemic. I am glad I bought the Calibike 1500w motor it has performed way beyond my expectations. The motor is on a full suspension mountain bike. I ride mostly on dirt trails and there is constant bouncing and hitting rocks going on. I just went over 1900 miles on the bike. It just keeps riding quietly and steady. I Love this motor! The trail I ride is 13 miles long and I only use 25% of the battery. Don’t hesitate to get the 1500w setup it will put a Big Smile on your face! This is the first review I have ever done. My only complaint is Rafe does Not have a motor for a Fat Tire bike. I would buy one in a New York second.

The customer service was fantastic, I received help when ever I needed it. The kit was easy to put together. I originally wanted the 2000w kit but it was sold out. I settled with this 1500w kit instead. After using it a bunch of times I’ve realized that 1500w is powerful and fast enough. With the weight of me and my bike and depending on the road quality and type my top speed is 52 – 55 km/h (around 35 mp/h) with a fully charged battery. Once I start pedaling hard while using the full throttle I can hit 68 km/h! This kit is definitely fast enough. It has great torque to, going uphill seems to be no problem for this kit. I would definitely recommend this kit. The amount of fun I’ve had with it is priceless.

Review of 52v 1500w ebike kit after 1200 miles. First of all, Rafe is very knowledgeable about bicycling in total, very fast to respond to questions and concerns and is very honest. He will not try to up-sell you on something you do not need, and offers free alternatives to accomplish your needs if he can. Thanks Rafe. I do not use this ebike for the reason I thought I would. My wife and I cycle every day for health and enjoyment. I thought I would use kit to speed to work every day. Turns out this is the perfect tool for keeping a 56 year old in his target heart rate for miles at time. Wife loves it too, we switch on and off. These parts are custom selected by Rafe to offer trouble free enjoyment for a long time. 1200 miles and the only problem was with a battery anderson connector that I did not have plugged in all the way. The 1500 watt ebike kit has tons of torque, and enough speed to get you in trouble if you daydream while riding like I do, lol. I could not be happier with the kit, the salesman and the exceptional service. My wife wants the 30c3 ebike for her birthday, look forward to working with Rafe again!

First off, Rafe provides the best customer service in the business! A big factor form me before purchasing this kit. I used this kit to upgrade from a 1200w direct drive hoping for more torque and power for hills and in general. The 1500w geared did not disappoint! Half the weight and size of the direct hub and a very nice Alex wheel. This kit has provided better battery life, much better PAS (left from old kit) function, better hill climbs and a few mph faster top speed. Initially I was disappoint in the smaller KT-LCD5 but after using it on the first ride I’m glad to have it, all the info and function are available and easy to see while using less handlebar, leaving room to mount other devices. Value,quality and service? Yes you can have all three!
